Center on Population Health and Aging
Overview
Penn State's Center on Population Health and Aging (CPHA) is one of thirteen centers on the demography of aging funded by the National Institute on Aging. The CPHA faculty hail from diverse scientific disciplines including the population sciences, biomedical sciences, and human development. Keys areas of research excellence include:
- The interrelationships among socioeconomic status, race-ethnicity and health
- Trends and differences in chronic disease and disability
- Biodemographic approaches to aging and health
- Work and family perspectives on the health and well being of the older population
- Living arrangements and care of the frail elderly
CPHA promotes cross-disciplinary scientific fertilization and collaboration to better understand the challenges of a growing and diverse older population.
