NLSY / NLS CD-ROM's
- For Win 95 machines:
- put cd-rom in drive
- On the two Win 95 PC's in 806 Oswald Tower, there is a program icon on the desktop called NLS Investigator. Double click on this start the program.

- Variables - allows you to select variables
- Text/cdbk - doesn't work yet (NLS Investigator was just released)
- the software operates a little slowly, so be patient
- if you double click on the variable, a window will pop up with a codebook description of the variable
- after slecting variables you can review them or extract them. Review, deletes all the unselected variables. To extract the variables, set up your own data area on the C drive by making a directory with your userid (ex. C:\lisa). You can also choose the format for the extracted data (delimited, SAS, SPSS, etc...).
- You can also save your tagged variables to make changes in the future
