Data Collections

The PRI Data Archive offers access to electronic data and documentation through the Simple Online Data Archive for Population Studies (SodaPop). Most datasets can be extracted online, and many are available to researchers outside of PRI.

The SodaPop System for PRI Affiliates offers additional data and resources to PRI faculty and students, including access to complete datasets on our Windows (Paris) and UNIX (PopNet) servers.

The Archive's circulating collection, indexed in the PRI Library/Data Archive Catalog, consists of datasets on CD/DVD-ROM and hardcopy documentation. Please see our Circulation Policy and Procedures for instructions on how to access this collection. Users must apply for an account by filling out the User Registration Form prior to checking out materials. PRI faculty and students may request hardcopy documentation to be printed according to our Codebook Policy.

Datasets in our collections are updated as new waves or updates become available, and updates are announced on the Data Archive Updates Web page. Researchers who are interested in updates to specific PRI data collections (e.g. CPS, ECLS-K, or NHANES) may subscribe to individual dataset categories to receive update alerts.

The Data Archive also provides information about, and links to, data-related resources outside of PRI.
