If you are looking for research data on Women's Health, this is the place to start. We have combed through the web and have tried to incorporate all the known links to publicly available data concerning women's health. Currently, the data is primarily for the United States, although some of the data sets listed contain international data as well. There are still many data sets available, but we feel we have listed the most interesting. If you have any comments about this page or feel that we have missed an important site, please contact us.

- Tremin Research Program on Women's Health - will be publicly available soon. This data set is a rich sorce of menstruation cycles since the 1930's. But this is only the tip of the iceberg, please click on the link and check it out yourself.

- National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG) 1973-2002 -- available at NCHS TOPICS: pregnancy, prenatal care, breastfeeding, contraception, infertility, education, work history, child care, religion, income, and demographics.
- National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) - 1997-2004 data available at DataFerrett and NCHS TOPICS: chronic conditions, income, etc.. (see NCHS for more detail).
- National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) - available at NCHS TOPICS: bone mineral density, food security, health insurance, housing characteristics, income, pesticide use, smoking, demographics, medical conditions (diabetes, diet, blood pressure, etc...), reproductive health, physical exercise, menstruation events, and much more. In future releases of NHANES, the survey will be integrated with the Continuing Survey of Food Intake by Individuals (CSFII) to form the National Food and Nutrition Survey (NFNS).

- Commonwealth Fund's Survey of Women's Health - Telephone interview survey conducted in 1995 and 1998. Download the questionnaire in PDF format.
- Heart Disease Mortality Among Women (CDC): Area Resource File, STF3a, National Vital Statistics System (NCHS), American Medical Association Physician Master File, County Hospital File, Population estimates from the Census Bureau, and the 1990 Special Tabulation on Aging
- WOMEN'S HEALTH INITIATIVE - very similar to Tremin Research Program on Women's Health - "...address the most common causes of death, disability and impaired quality of life in postmenopausal women". It's a 15 year study starting in 1993. Participants are over the age of 50.
components:
1. a randomized controlled clinical trial of promising but unproven approaches to prevention;
2. an observational study to identify predictors of disease;
3. a study of community approaches to developing healthful behaviors.

- WHO MONICA Project - "Quality Assessment of Data on Menopausal Status and Hormones" This is an international dataset
- Study of Women's Health Across the Nation (SWAN) - study of the menopausal transition, "...impact of hormonal changes, particularly estrogen changes, on health outcomes such as cognitive and physical functioning."
