National Symposium on Family Issues

"Development of Hispanic Children in Immigrant Families: Challenges and Prospects" was the focus of Penn State's 16th annual Symposium on Family Issues, held October 23-24, 2008 on the University Park campus. View Program

Each year Penn State holds hold a two-day symposium focused on a key problem facing families. The 2008 symposium is sponsored by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the following organizations at Penn State: Population Research Institute; Children, Youth and Families Consortium; Prevention Research Center; Center for Human Development and Family Research in Diverse Contexts; Women's Studies Program; the College of Education; the departments of Sociology, Labor Studies, Rural Sociology, Human Development and Family Studies, and Psychology. Sixteen of the top scholars in the field of family research convene to present and critique research on the focal topic and to consider their implications for effective programs and public policy.
