National Symposium on Family Issues
Penn State's 17th National Symposium on Family Issues
Biosocial Research Contributions to Understanding Family Processes and Problems
October 8-9, 2009
University Park campus
Each year Penn State holds a two-day symposium focused on a key problem facing families. Sixteen of the top scholars in the field of family research convene to present and critique research on the focal topic and to consider their implications for effective programs and public policy. The proceedings of each symposium are published in book form. More about the Symposium Series...
The symposium is supported annually by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and the following organizations at Penn State: Population Research Institute; Children, Youth and Families Consortium; Prevention Research Center; Women's Studies Program; the departments of Sociology, Labor Studies, Human Development and Family Studies, and Psychology.
The 2009 symposium is supported by Salimetrics--providing researchers salivary assay tools for studying a wide range of genetic and hormone markers affecting health, behavior and development.
