Dr. Samantha Friedman (1997) was awarded an NIH-funded R21 grant for a project entitled "Cybersegregation: Is Neil a More Desirable Tenant than Tyrone or Jorge?," an audit study testing the extent to which those with racially/ethnically identifiable names are being offered different levels of services by housing providers advertising over the internet in Boston, MA and Houston, TX.
Dr. Bridget Gorman (2000), associate professor of sociology, was awarded the 2008 George R. Brown Prize for Excellence in Teaching, Rice University's highest teaching award.
Dr. Tanya Kenkre (2005) is Research Consultant, "Impact of Housing Relocation Initiatives on Community Violence," Allegheny County Health Department, and Early Childhood Partnerships at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
