Graduate Program in Demography Ranked 5th in the Nation

The just released U.S. News and World Report 2006 edition of America's Best Graduate Schools has provided, for the first time, a national ranking of Population doctoral programs, ranking Penn State's Graduate Program in Demography in fifth place. Sub-discipline Population training has been offered since 1960. In 1987 Penn State initiated a formal dual-title demography graduate program which offers master's and doctoral degrees in demography combined with one of seven fields (sociology; economics; anthropology; agricultural, environmental and regional economics; rural sociology; human development and family studies; or health policy administration), as well as a Ph.D. minor in Demography. More than 160 Ph.D. degrees have been awarded through the program since its initiation.
