According to new rules passed by the Board of Directors in Fall 1994, everyone submitting a manuscript for possible inclusion in Demography must send a non-refundable $20 submission fee with their manuscript (payable to PAA). Only sole student authors may be exempt from this submission fee. Also, the Board passed a motion to require authors who are published in Demography to pay page charges. When authors receive first page proofs, just prior to publication, they will also receive a page charge order form. Before authors had an option to pay page charges (if they had funding) of $20 per printed page article or buy offprints at reduced cost. Now, all individuals who received/receive grant or institutional funding for the published work must pay these page charges. They will still receive 100 free offprints. Anyone requesting a waiver from the page charge rule will have to do so in writing to the secretary-treasurer (in a timely manner as there is only 1-2 weeks of time in which to submit proofs and order forms). This information will be published in the front of each issue of Demography.
