DemoGraphics '94 : New Version of Demographic Software

A new upgrade of the DemoGraphics software from IIASA (International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis) is now available. The new version is, like the old, a data base application for easy retrieval, graphical display and animation of demographic data. It is mainly used as a computer-based demographic reference system and as a tool for population education. The package runs under MS-Windows 3.1 or later. The software automatically translates the data into charts (population pyramids), thematic maps, scatter plots, pie charts and other graphics. However, DemoGraphics' main feature is its capacity for data-generated animation. Time series data are translated into moving charts or thematic maps which dynamically change their shape or color coding. For instance, one can see the aging of a population as the age and sex composition of a population is translated by DemoGraphics '94 into a 'moving' age pyramid.
