A Note from the Editors

Many favorable comments have come our wayabout the new look for PAA Affairs. We are certainly delighted by the response, and want to acknowledge all that our predecessor, Felicia LeClere, did to help ease the transition. In particular, her advice and good counsel helped us to avoid potential pitfalls and to see where improvements could be made. Thank you, Felicia!

We are pleased to see that the newsletter is being accessed by many on the Penn State Website and by gopher [ http://www.pop.psu.edu or gopher.pop.psu.edu (in the library folder)] thanks to Stephen Matthews and Mike Zimmerman. They say that when users (over 1300 of them) access one newsletter, they generally check out the earlier issues as well. The majority of users are from educational institutions or from commercial services. In this first year of online access, the Dutch and Canadians were the most frequent users among our foreign readers.

We welcome your news, comments, announcements, job listings, demographic jokes, creative works, other informational items, and suggestions on what else you d like to see in the newsletter. Submissions by email will ensure faster turnaround and minimize errors, and is therefore our mode of choice.
