for excellence in writing and editing in the population sciences has been created by her colleagues, friends, and family, to commemorate Olivia Schieffelin Nordberg (1942-1996) who played a leading role in information dissemination on international population issues over three decades as editor, writer, and director of publications. The award will be conferred on an individual for one of the following achievements:
The Award, to be given every two years, is for $5,000 and will be conferred at a reception at the Population Council. The recipient is invited to make a brief substantive presentation on a topic of his or her choosing. The first Award will be made in April 1997. Entries may be submitted by individuals or organizations. The deadline for nominations for the first Award is March 1 1997.
