DHS announces the availability of findings from four standard surveys and two in-depth surveys. The four standard surveys are Brazil (POR), Comoros (FRE), Eritrea (ENG), and Nepal (ENG). The two in-depth surveys are Sumve Survey on Adult and Childhood Mortality, Tanzania, 1995 and Negotiating Reproductive Outcomes in Uganda. The Situation Analysis Approach to Assessing Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services: A Handbook is available from the Population Council. The 219-page volume, compiled by Council staff and based on eight years of operations research, is the most comprehensive guide to Situation Analysis published to date. The handbook contains all the information needed to conduct a Situation Analysis study. Program managers can adapt the methodology to suit individual program needs by selecting instruments or adding new modules that cover indicators of interest to them. Challenges for Incorporating Sexuality into Family Planning Programs is a new report based on a workshop hosted by the Population Council and IPPF/WHR. The State of Illinois will soon have a new publication available, Illinois Population Trends, 1990-2020, July 1997 Edition, with population projections for the state of Illinois and its 102 counties from the Illinois Bureau of the Budget. The report contains projections of the population for the state by age, sex and race (white and non-white) and Hispanic origin. For all counties, the projections are by age and sex; seventeen counties have additional projections by age, sex, and race (white/ non-white), and eight counties have additional projections by age, sex, race (white/non-white), and Hispanic origin. The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has released both the Public Use data file and the first report from the 1995 National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG). Both the data file and the report, Fertility, Family Planning and Women's Health: New data from the 1995 National Survey of Family Growth, are much larger and more comprehensive than previous rounds of the NSFG. The 1995 NSFG public use data file is available on magnetic tape from the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) at 703.487.4650. The accession number, which is required, is PB 97-50154. Documentation is also included with this order. Later this year, a CD-ROM will be available from NCHS containing the 1995 data and documentation.
