The National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA) is accepting applications for its next Resident Scientist, to begin a one-year term (with one year renewable, contingent on continued funding) May 1, 1998. It is expected that the person filling this position will devote 10-20% of his/her time to the project through frequent contact with NACDA staff and advisors. The Resident Scientist provides intellectual guidance to the nation's largest library of computer-readable data on aging. NACDA is a part of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR), housed at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and funded by the National Institute on Aging. The Resident Scientist works with the NACDA Council and staff to design projects that facilitate secondary analysis in gerontology. It is hoped that this position will provide an opportunity for the Resident Scientist to explore and utilize data sets needed for research in a particular area of gerontology. Although it is not necessary for the Resident Scientist to live in the Ann Arbor area during his/her term, the selected individual must be willing to travel there regularly. All reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed. The Resident Scientist also receives remuneration based on current salary, office space, and the technological and informational resources of a major research university.
