Joshua Masnick Kim is the proud parent of a little baby girl, Alexi Minna Kim, born on Friday, April 25th at 1:27 pm. She has been described as "a perfect petite little thing" at 5 lb, 14 oz. Kim is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.
MIGRATION
Wen Lang Li takes an early retirement this summer from Ohio State University and assumes a new position as a Senator in Taiwan's Legislative Yuan.
James Vaupel has moved to Germany to be the founding director of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock. Zeng Yi will split his time between Peking University and the new Institute.
Karen Oppenheim Mason has been named Director of the East-West Center Program on Population.
DEATHS
On February 28, 1997, Kingsley Davis died quietly at home. He was 88.
