PRI Library and Data Archive Circulation Policy and Procedures
Circulation Policy
All items housed in the library in 707 Oswald, and codebooks, data CDs, and software manuals housed in 806 Oswald, may be checked out of the library by registered users.
New PRI faculty are registered as they arrive. All others should apply for an account by filling out the PRI Library and Data Archive User Registration Form. PRI postdoctoral trainees, graduate students, and staff are eligible for accounts. Visitors are granted accounts on the approval of the Information Core Director.
Due Dates
Journals, newsletters, and reference materials may be checked out for a period of two weeks. After that time, they may be renewed.
No due dates are currently applied to other items; however, it is expected that materials will be returned promptly for the use of others when recalled.
Recalls
A specific item may be recalled at any time at the request of another registered user. If the user has had the item for less than two weeks, library staff will not send a recall notice until the user has had the book for at least two weeks.
A list of items charged will be sent to each borrower as a reminder of account status at the end of the every semester. Items charged to graduating students, departing faculty, and visitors with expired accounts will be recalled.
Fines and Fees
No fines are charged for overdue materials or materials not returned promptly.
No fees are assessed on items retained by departing researchers, although every effort is made to obtain return of the items. The Information Core does not accept offers to pay for an item rather than returning it when the item is not lost.
Circulation Records
Status information (e.g., charged to user, missing, etc.) is maintained in the online catalog. Circulation information regarding specific users is confidential, and is accessible only to Information Core staff.
