Guidelines for submitting papers to the PRI working papers series

PRI's working papers series provides quick and easy distribution of conference papers and other unpublished work for PRI faculty and students. All you have to do is submit your paper - we will format the paper and make it available on our Web site, and will remove the paper and replace it with a citation if it is subsequently published.

Working papers may be submitted at any time, following these guidelines:

How to submit

Submit an electronic copy of the paper (in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or PDF format) to Ruth Kozar. It is the author's responsibility to ensure that the electronic copy is in correct final form.

Student submissions

We encourage submissions from students, but we require submissions without a faculty author to be reviewed ensure consistent quality throughout the series. Criteria for review are as follows:

  • If a paper has been accepted for presentation at a professional meeting, it has undergone sufficient review and may be included in the working paper series.
  • If a paper has not been reviewed previously, it must be reviewed before being included in the working paper series. The review may be performed by a faculty member or members of the individual's choice. The paper should then be submitted with a note from the reviewer indicating it is deemed suitable for addition to the series.

Format & distribution

Working papers will be posted for download on the Web unless the author specifically requests that the paper not be made available in electronic format. The papers are available in PDF format.

Most journals do not consider working papers distributed via the Web to have been previously published. If you have concerns about journals you are considering submitting your paper to, Tara Murray can provide guidance.

The working paper cover sheet indicates that working papers are unpublished manuscripts and should not be cited without author permission.

Publication

If your working paper is subsequently published, we will remove the paper from the series and replace it with a citation for the published version. You may request that your paper be removed at any time (in some cases this may be required upon submission). Please notify Ruth Kozar when your paper has been accepted.
